Nate Diaz might have a surprise opponent for his next fight. The former UFC superstar quit the UFC last year after fighting Tony Ferguson. After his time in the UFC, Diaz crossed over to boxing to take on Jake Paul. And now, the 38-year-old is ready to face Deontay Wilder.

Diaz fought Jake Paul in August this year. The two competed in a fairly competitive boxing fight. However, boxing was never Diaz’s best attribute. Therefore, it was no surprise that Paul beat the former UFC superstar. And it appears as though he is done with boxing for now.

Nate Diaz welcomes MMA fight against Deontay Wilder

Wilder recently spoke to Inside Fighting on Instagram. And when asked about a potential crossover to MMA against Nate Diaz, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ said, “Oh most definitely. Nate, dial me up, bro. I’d be down to get in there with Nate for sure.” Furthermore, when asked about his chances, he replied, “Man, we’re going to see. There’s only one way to find out.”

Therefore, the former WBC heavyweight champion of the world showed his desire to do what no boxer has done to date. So far, all the crossover events have been MMA fighters getting into the boxing ring. However, Wilder wants to do the opposite. And he is confident of his chances against Diaz.

Diaz then replied to Wilder on X and said, “Let’s get these contract written up asap.. Real fight sh*t respect to a real fighter down to fight for real. All love to boxing But this is different REAL 👊🏼 shit LFG 1993 🥋.”

Thus, with this post, Diaz not only welcomed a bout with Wilder but also reminded ‘The Bronze Bomber’ that it would be a real fight. And while it would be an exciting contest, it would take a lot of negotiations to make it happen.

Firstly, Diaz is a free agent and therefore, one of the MMA promotions would need to take up the event. In addition, Wilder walks around at 220 lbs. while Diaz is at best, 190. There is a significant weight difference. And finally, it will take a while to make it happen as Wilder will have to train grappling for a while before he can take on an expert like Diaz.

What do you make of these comments from Deontay Wilder and Nate Diaz? Can you see the two actually entering into the octagon?
