Devin Haney Take Shot at Floyd Mayweather while lauding Israel Adesanya

Haney, who is currently the WBC lightweight champion, recently spoke out about the differences between the world of boxing and the UFC. He praised the UFC for its fighters’ willingness to face each other and continue fighting, even after a loss.

In his words, “In the UFC, those guys fight each other, lose, fight again and still equally as big, may even be bigger after a loss,” Haney stated. “Look at Israel Adesanya, he came back, lost, and is even bigger than he was before.”

Haney went on to criticize Mayweather for his focus on maintaining an undefeated record and the negative impact it has had on the sport. “Floyd kinda messed up the game with the undefeated record and undefeated is everything, so guys don’t wanna fight each other they wanna keep their 0,” Haney said. Check out the video below.

Haney’s comments emphasized on Israel Adesanya’s recent redemption at UFC 287, where he reclaimed the title after losing it at UFC 281. Adesanya’s ability to bounce back from a loss and continue to thrive in the UFC is a testament to the sport’s willingness to embrace risk and competition.

While Mayweather’s undefeated record remains an impressive feat, it has also been criticized for discouraging fighters from taking on challenging opponents and contributing to a lack of excitement in the sport.

Haney’s criticism of Mayweather highlights an ongoing debate in the world of boxing, with some arguing that the focus on maintaining an undefeated record has led to a lack of exciting fights and a reluctance to take risks. Haney is not alone in his criticism, with many fans and critics alike calling for a greater emphasis on competitive matchups and a willingness to take on challenging opponents.
