After his retirement, Khabib insisted he would always be involved with the sport. And unsurprisingly, one of the first things he did after calling it quits was buying Eagle FC. And since then, the former champion has been actively involved in his promotion. This year, the promotion put on ten events in total.

Other than his Eagle FC obligations, Khabib started coaching. He trains a whole host of fighters, including UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov, and many others.
‘The Eagle’ oversaw Makhachev’s impressive win over Charles Oliveira and helped his cousin Usman beat Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire in Bellator. Therefore, it was a successful year for coach Khabib.

It would be an incomplete year if there was no Khabib vs McGregor drama. The two arch-rivals went at each other on a few occasions this year. McGregor criticized Khabib for ‘running away’ from the sport while Khabib clapped back. The two had several other verbal fencings throughout the year.

One major achievement for Khabib Nurmagomedov this year was his induction into the UFC hall of fame. The former undefeated champion joined the esteemed list of fighters to get an entry into the UFC hall of fame.
Moreover, Khabib attended the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar and even stayed on until the final. Khabib also linked up with many celebrities over the course of 2022. He had several interactions with the internet sensation, Hasbulla as well.
Therefore, while Khabib could not make waves in the octagon, he definitely made the headlines thanks to his work outside the octagon. And fans of ‘The Eagle’ can expect more of the same in 2023.
