Kamaru Usman is left to ruminate on the many outcomes of his UFC 294 match with Khamzat Chimaev.

Many spectators thought “Borz” would win the fight after the first round of the Chimaev vs. Usman battle ended. That notion was abandoned when Usman upped the ante in the subsequent round. Due to Usman’s precise boxing, Chimaev had no choice but to resort to takedowns.

Usman was competitive as he struggled to get back to his feet after landing on his back. The judges were asked to make the final determination after the bout had gone the distance. By a majority vote, “Borz” defeated “The Nigerian Nightmare”.

After UFC 294 Loss Kamaru Usman Might Have Hinted His Next Opponent

Usman expressed his emotions in a post-fight interview with Megan Olivi for ESPN MMA, after his middleweight aspirations were put on hold after a poor performance at UFC 294.

The former champion hinted at a potential return at 185 pounds at the historic UFC 300 event next year after reviewing what went wrong and blaming a drop in confidence as a major contributing reason.

Kamaru Usman hinted that he is interested in fighting with Du Plessis.

Du Plessis achieved his present position of #2 in the middleweight standings after infamously knocking out former titleholder Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 in July of last year.

Although it appeared at first that the outcome had also secured him a shot at the belt, an injury that forced him to decline a chance at UFC 293 together with Chimaev’s subsequent triumph have made the South African’s status somewhat ambiguous.
