In five rounds, the underdog American defeated Israel Adesanya to win the middleweight championship at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday.

Instead of travelling to Australia to commentate on the major UFC fights, Rogan and his friends watched Adesanya vs. Strickland at his podcast studio.

The reaction of the 56-year-old, who broadcast a live watch-along on YouTube after Strickland scored a hard knockdown in the first round, has gone viral very quickly.

On the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Rogan was listening to the bout with former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub. Rogan and Schaub were both taken aback when Strickland defeated Adesanya for the first bout in his professional career. Rogan said, “Holy Sh*t, Izzy just got cracked!” in shock. Adesanya received powerful shots, according to Rogan, which will make things difficult for him in subsequent rounds.

While reacting for the 1st round Rogan said to the attacks of Sean Strickland, he said “ I couldn’t see what he got hit with, because I think he got hit with some big shots, Those are gonna be problems later because those are big shots.” additionally he added, “but he is also shook up, and trying to calm himself down.”

Rogan said he wished he had been present live to call the bout after Strickland’s unexpected defeat of “The Last Stylebender” to win the belt.

Rogan screamed, “Unbelievable,” as Strickland won the decision by a unanimous vote of 49-46.”He accomplished it. The world’s middleweight champion is that wild mother—er. Thank God I could be there. I wish I had been present.

Rogan also praised Adesanya for his “class in defeat” as Strickland raised his hand to acknowledge the new champion.
