MMA Junkie was just notified by two individuals who were aware of the matchup, but they requested to stay anonymous as the organization has not yet released an official statement. The contest was initially reported by Eurosport NL.

Taira, 23, is undefeated in mixed martial arts (MMA) and has been since he signed a contract with the UFC in early 2022. Taira will take a fifth trip to the cage in 19 months, despite the promotion having to cancel three of his bouts.

Taira has defeated Edgar Chairez, Jesus Aguilar, CJ Vergara, and Carlos Candelario thus far in the promotion. On October 14, he was supposed to play David Dvorak again, however Dvorak withdrew, and Taira was taken off the card.

Hernandez defeated Victor Altamirano in a split decision to make his UFC debut in February 2022. After losing by fast submission to Allan Nascimento in his second promotional match, Hernandez triumphed over Denys Bondar via technical decision when he returned in June. Hernandez slammed Bondar until he lost consciousness. Due to the referee’s determination that Hernandez’s head accidentally collided with Bondar, leading to the knockout, the bout was submitted to the judges for scoring.
