Almeida vs. Lewis, also referred to as UFC Fight Night 231 and UFC on ESPN+ 89, is scheduled to occur on November 4, 2023, at Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil. This event will mark the return of the UFC to Sao Paulo and will feature an exciting fight card.
Initially, Curtis Blaydes was scheduled to fight Almeida, but he had to withdraw. Derrick Lewis replaced him and will face Jailton Almeida in the main event of UFC Fight Night 221 on November 4 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo.
But now the main event will be a heavyweight clash between local favorite Jailton Almeida, ranked No. 9 in the heavyweight division, and the 10th-ranked Derrick Lewis, also known as the “Black Beast.” The event will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and is set to begin with the prelims at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the main card at 9 p.m. ET.
Derrick Lewis boasts a record of 27 wins, 11 losses, and 1 no contest, while Jailton Almeida holds a record of 19 wins and 2 losses. These heavyweight fighters are set to engage in an intense clash in the upcoming event.
