India’s First Female UFC Fighter Puja Tomar Criticizes Overemphasis on Elvish Yadav’s Big Boss Victory

Meanwhile, in India, individuals who are genuinely making significant contributions often receive little to no attention and praise they rightfully deserve. On the other hand, those in the spotlight for relatively insignificant reasons garner a disproportionate amount of attention. Referring to this issue, Tomar, during a recent conversation with YouTuber Riya Upreti, expressed her frustration regarding the lack of attention and support that athletes desperately require.

During the chat, Puja Tomar mentioned that while she doesn’t have a personal dislike for Elvish Yadav or Bigg Boss, she finds it disheartening to see the over support he received just for winning a TV show. This support wasn’t just from fans, but even the Haryana Government, which pledged its backing to Elvish.

In her view, athletes who toil day and night to bring honor to India don’t receive the same level of recognition and support as someone like Elvish, who won a reality TV show.

She stated, “When there’s a Bigg Boss or any TV show, the Indian government or even the people in India tend to go crazy over it. But the individuals who are actually out there, representing India, achieving so much, they don’t get the same things.” (24:38 translated in english)

It’s important to note that she doesn’t hold anything against anyone. Her concern is simply that she wants Indian athletes to receive the same level of recognition and support.

Indeed, it’s a distressing reality that fans in India tend to become overly enthusiastic about anything or anyone currently trending, be it Bollywood stars or even elevating them to god-like status. Tomar shared her frustration, highlighting a sad reality that needs to be acknowledged.
