Islam Makhachev will defend his lightweight championship against Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 294’s announced main card.

After handily defeating Oliveira in their first meeting, Makhachev and Oliveira will now square off once more, almost precisely a year later. Oliveira successfully defeated Beneil Dariush to earn the rematch, and on October 21 he will take on Makhachev in an effort to recapture the 155-pound title.

Khamzat Chimaev fights Paulo Costa, a former UFC championship contender, in the co-main event as he makes his return to the middleweight division. Ever since he arrived in the UFC, Chimaev emerged as a favourite to eventually win UFC gold, and this fight might give him the best chance to earn that opportunity.

UFC 294: Ikram Aliskerov’s New Opponent

Ikram Aliskerov, a rising middleweight contender, has a new opponent after Nassourdine Imavov was forced to withdraw from their bout for unspecified reasons, which is one change made to the event. At UFC 294, Aliskerov will now square off against Warlley Alves in another main-card contest.

Magomed Ankalaev, who competed against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 282, returns to action for the first time since a split draw lost him the opportunity to win the light heavyweight championship. Ankalaev will need to defeat Johnny Walker in order to win his third straight fight, which includes a victory over Anthony Smith in May, in order to regain title contention.

Said Nurmagomedov and Muin Gafurov will square off in a bantamweight fight to round off the main card and kick off the UFC 294 pay-per-view.

On ESPN+ pay-per-view from Abu Dhabi, the UFC 294 main card will kick off at an unusual time of 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. ET.
