Ex-UFC Champion Jamahal Hill Arrested After An Altercation With His Brother

Management of Jamahal Hill is not pleased with the story’s reporting. Brian Butler-Au made a declaration on X earlier today, announcing the light-heavyweight’s innocence.

Jamahal Hill Arrested: Ex-UFC Champion Jamahal Hill, the former light heavyweight champion of the UFC, was taken into custody for domestic abuse.

TMZ Sports revealed on Friday afternoon that Hill had been arrested earlier this week in Michigan on charges of domestic abuse directed towards his brother. Hill was reportedly checked into a Kent County jail on Monday at around one in the morning and released at seven thirty-five that evening. Prosecutors officially charged Hill with one count of misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence during that period.

When Will Jamahal Hill Appear In Court?

According to court filings, Ex-UFC Champion Jamahal Hill is accused of assaulting his brother James Anthony Hill Jr., and causing “serious or aggravated injury upon him.” James is described as “a resident or former resident” of Jamahal’s household in the court filings. We don’t currently have any other information about the purported incident.

Hill is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing in January. Earlier this year, Jamahal Hill won the vacant light heavyweight title in the UFC by way of a decision over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. Though he was on the verge of a comeback and sure he would face Alex Pereira for the title before this occurrence, he was forced to relinquish the crown months later due to an Achilles tear.

A statement was made public by Jamahal Hill’s manager a few hours following his arrest as the former UFC champion.

It seems that the management of Jamahal Hill is not pleased with the story’s reporting. Brian Butler-Au made a declaration on X earlier today, announcing the light-heavyweight’s innocence. They expressed their excitement for the court case in a succinct statement.

The recent “click bait” headlines about [Jamahal Hill] were based on an alleged dispute between him and his older brother,” The former champion’s manager wrote on social media hours following the news. “Jamahal adamantly maintains his innocence and denies the false accusations. We will not be commenting anymore about this until the truth comes out in court.”

In the statement itself, Butler-Au wrote that he was looking forward to being in court. As of now, the former champion is expected to be seen there in January.
