Some believe Charles Oliveira to have a significant advantage over Islam Makhachev before their UFC 294 title match.
When he faces Makhachev again in the UFC 294 main event on October 21st, Oliveira will try to retake the lightweight title. One of the rare fighters to submit the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt was Makhachev, who prevailed over Oliveira at UFC 280 last year.
Few people are giving Oliveira the opportunity to make up for his first bout with Makhachev. Elite wrestling by Makhachev offers a conundrum that has proven challenging for all of his competitors to solve. But the fight records also state, Charles Oliveira’s submission records are higher than Khabib and his opponent Islam Makhachev.

Charles Oliveira’s Submission Record Outshines Khabib and Islam Makhachev
Charles Oliveira’s fight record indicates 34 wins and 9 losses, out of the 34 wins he has won 10 of the fights via KO, 21 fights via submissions and 3 matches via decision.
Out of the 9 fights he has lost 4 fights were due to total KO, while the other 4 were due to submissions and 1 fight through decision.
“The Eagle” is also the undisputed lightweight champion (Khabib Nurmagomedov) and has a perfect record of 29-0-0 fights
Out of these 29 fights, he won 8 fights through total KO, 11 fights through submissions and 10 fights through decision.
Now looking at the statistical record of Islam Makhachev, we can see to date Islam has fought a total of 24 fights whilst recording only 1 loss.
Breaking the win streak, we can see Islam has won 4 fights through complete KO, 11 fights via submissions and 9 fights through decision.
Looking at his loss he was KO by Adriano Martin.
The post on X, a former Twitter platform, states that Charles Oliveira’s Submission records 16, while that added of Islam Makhachev and Khabib totals 11 in the Lightweight weight category.
Oliveira leads the UFC in overall submission victories (16) and holds the record for the most post-fight bonuses (19). Prior to his defeat to Makhachev, he submitted Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje in back-to-back battles.
The most recent of Makhachev’s 24 victories, a submission victory against Oliveira at UFC 280, was one of the 11. In the Octagon, he has also submitted Drew Dober and Thiago Moisés.
Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2’s result will be heavily influenced by grappling.
