Elon Musk founded SpaceX Rocket Punctured Ionosphere
According to reports, the Falcon 9 rocket belonging to SpaceX launched 22 Starlink satellites into orbit on Sunday, July 23rd, and successfully landed the returning rocket on a ship at sea. However, it is also reported that the rocket caused damage to the Ionosphere, which is a section of the Earth’s atmosphere that extends up to 10,000 kilometers above the surface. Specifically, the rocket is said to have created a puncture in the ionosphere.
Space Physicist Jeff Baumgardner reporting this stated, “I reviewed footage from the July 19 launch. It shows the second stage engine burning at 286 km near the F-region peak for that time of day. So, it is quite possible that an ionospheric ‘hole’ was made.”
The Ionosphere is an atmospheric layer that is ionized by solar radiation and serves a crucial role in atmospheric electricity. Additionally, it forms the inner boundary of the magnetosphere. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that a SpaceX rocket has caused damage to the Ionosphere, as it has reportedly happened before.
