If regaining the light heavyweight belt means running over another Brazilian, Jiri Prochazka is more than willing to do it.
UFC CEO Dana White made a number of big announcements on Wednesday regarding the promotion’s final two pay-per-view events of the year. Jiri Prochazka, a former light heavyweight champion, will make his debut appearance inside the Octagon on November 11 in an effort to win back the championship he never lost at 205 pounds. The former middleweight champion and knockout artist from Brazil, Alex Pereira, will be on his way.

UFC 295: Alex Pereira Warned By Jiri Prochazka
The two will compete in UFC 295’s co-main event, which will take place in the world’s most renowned arena, Madison Square Garden.
At UFC 275 in June 2022, Jiri Prochazka defeated former champion Glover Teixeira to win the light heavyweight championship in an instant classic. The two competitors were scheduled to face off in December, however “Denisa” withdrew due to a shoulder injury, forfeiting the 205-pound title.
After Jamahal Hill, Prochazka’s successor, suffered an injury, the belt was once again vacant, giving ‘Denisa’ the chance to right the wrongs and reclaim the light heavyweight title.
Alex Pereira, a hard-hitting Brazilian who has developed a strong bond with Jiri Prochazka’s previous opponent, Glover Teixeira, will face Prochazka in the co-main event. When UFC 295 rolls around, the recently retired Teixeira will unquestionably be in Pereira’s camp, giving Prochazka not one, but two Brazilian nasties to deal with in his eagerly awaited comeback.
Jiri Prochazka, who made his Octagon debut in the summer of 2020, only needed two decisive victories over Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir to earn himself a shot at the light heavyweight championship. He defeated Teixeira in a back-and-forth battle for the title, but his reign was unfortunately cut short by a terrible shoulder injury.
With a perfect 3-0 record inside the Octagon and an overall record of 11-1, “Denisa” enters his second UFC title fight. Nearly eight years have passed since Prochazka’s most recent loss. When he faces former GLORY Kickboxing world champion Alex Pereira in November at MSG in New York City, he’ll want to maintain that run.
