Jan Blachowicz thinks that at UFC 295, Alex Pereira, the recently minted light heavyweight champion, should not have called out Israel Adesanya, a middleweight.

The former light heavyweight champion Blachowicz attacked Pereira in a string of tweets on Sunday, referring to him as “slimy” and claiming that they still had “unfinished business.” At UFC 291 in July, Pereira faced Blachowicz in a 205-pound match and prevailed via split decision.

Following his victory over Jiri Prochazka to win the vacant light heavyweight championship in the main event on Saturday, Pereira extended an invitation to Adesanya, the former middleweight champion who had won two times, to fight him for the 205-pound title.

Because Adesanya and Pereira have already engaged in two UFC fights and two kickboxing fights, Blachowicz is not a fan of the possible showdown.

In November 2022, Pereira defeated Adesanya by TKO to capture the 185-pound title. Adesanya then triumphed via knockout in a rematch in April to reclaim the middleweight title. Since then, in September, Adesanya has lost the championship once more, this time to Sean Strickland.

Blachowicz will not be taking Pereira on again, even if he would like to give it another go. On January 20, the Pole and Aleksandar Rakic are slated to square off again at UFC 297. Furthermore, previous champion Jamahal Hill, who gave up the championship in July owing to an injury, is the next in line to take against Pereira, according to UFC CEO Dana White’s statement on Saturday.
