Alex Pereira Aims to Reclaim Light Heavyweight Title for Glover Teixeira At UFC 295

UFC 295: Alex Pereira aims to secure the Light Heavyweight championship while making a heartfelt commitment for Glover Teixeira.

After watching Islam Makhachev successfully defend his title at a recent PPV event against Alexander Volkanovski, we’re set for this weekend’s UFC 295, where Alex Pereira will take on Jiri Prochazka. In his last match, Pereira made it clear that he aims to secure the belt in a different division this time after losing the middleweight title. And now in a recent conversation, he shared a heartfelt statement ahead of the bout, stating his desire for the Light Heavyweight belt to be returned to Glover Teixeira and discussed his game approach for this fight.

UFC 295: Alex Pereira Chasing Light Heavyweight Title Fore Glover Teixeira

While it’s common for fighters to form bonds with one another, as we’ve seen with Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov, and many other fighters who share close relationships. Likewise, Teixeira and Pereira, both Brazilians, also share a strong bond. Ahead of UFC 295, “Poatan” stated that he wants to fulfill his dream of returning the light heavyweight title to Teixeira and their training gym but promises not to let his emotions get the better of him.

He stated, “I’m not going into this fight with any desire for revenge. I don’t want to play this game. I want to go into it with a very positive mindset. I’m going to fight without thinking that they’ve already fought. Being able to give the belt back to Glover and put it back in the gym means a lot to me.

On November 11, the UFC will return to Madison Square Garden, where Pereira, as he stated, is eyeing the gold. While he mentioned that he isn’t seeking to avenge Teixeira’s loss to Prochazka, given that the fight is for the vacant title, his sole aim is to secure the title for Teixeira. With a positive mindset and the only goal of bringing the belt back to his camp.

While they weren’t the originally planned main event, Pereira and his opponent will now headline the event since the Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight was canceled due to Jones’s injury. Meanwhile, fight fans will be glued to see if Pereira can bring the belt to his camp.
