It’s been almost three years since Khabib Nurmagomedov fought for the last time as a professional. ‘The Eagle’ submitted Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, defending his lightweight title with an advanced record of 29 wins and 0 losses. Follow UFC News Updates with InsideSport.IN.

Nurmagomedov was often considered being a big lightweight and had to shed some valuable pounds before every UFC contest. He even missed weight before a fight against Abel Truijillo.

However, Khabib Nurmagomedov recently opened up about having no complications while making weight for his last UFC clash against Justin Gaethje.

The former UFC lightweight champion recently spoke with gorilla fighting and revealed how the emotional factor of competing in his last fight smoothened the difficulties of weight-cutting.

Khabib Nurmagomedov said, “The weight cut before the last fight was filled with emotions. I knew for myself but the environment didn’t know that this was my last weight cut. That I won’t be at this weight anymore, I knew it would never happen again.”

“I knew this was my last fight, my last 70 Kg (155 lbs) cut, I lost weight very well. I don’t know what videos been on the Internet about it. But Zubaira, Islam, Rizvan, Esed, everyone who was around, Shamil, Usman. They were all surprised.”

Nurmagomedov lost the first round against Justin Gaethje on the judges’ scorecard at UFC 254. Meanwhile, the Dagestani revived himself in round two and choked out Gaethje to finish off his career on a legendary note.

Despite several requests from Dana White and fans, Khabib Nurmagomedov has never turned back to lacing the gloves and doesn’t appear to do so again.

AKA has been home to several legendary fighters like Daniel Cormier, Luke Rockhold, Cain Velasquez, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and others.

It remains to be seen whether he re-starts his coaching role, especially when Islam Makhachev will have his second lightweight title defense at UFC 294.
