UFC 284: Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski

Alexander Volkanovski will compete against Islam Makhachev for the lightweight championship in Perth, Australia, the weekend after the Lewis vs. Spivac Fight Night event. The two champions will square off for the lightweight title and their respective pound-for-pound rankings. Makhachev is just below Volkanovski on the list of fighters ranked by weight, yet the Dagestani is widely favored to defeat the Australian.

The interim featherweight title is up for grabs when Josh Emmett and Yair Rodriguez square off in the co-main event, and as usual, Australian fans will have something to cheer about throughout the entire night.

UFC Schedule: other three fights on the UFC 284 main card

Jack Della Maddalena of Australia and Randy Brown of America will square off in a welterweight fight. While Della Maddalena (13-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) made a significant breakthrough in his first UFC calendar year, Brown (16-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) is riding a four-fight winning streak.

Parker Porter will enter hostile territory when he fights Justin Tafa at heavyweight. Porter (13-7 MMA, 3-2 UFC) aims to bounce back from a TKO defeat to Jailton Almeida in May, while Tafa (5-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) last fought in December, ending a two-fight losing streak with a swift head kick knockout of Harry Hunsucker.

Jimmy Crute will return after a protracted absence in Australia. Crute will compete in the light heavyweight division against Alonzo Menifield.
