Chasing 164 to win, the Trailblazers got off to a brisk start with Smriti Mandhana and Hayley Matthews putting on a fine partnership, plundering 34 in the first four overs. However, that sojourn ended when Pooja Vastrakar sent Matthews packing to strike first blood.
Mandhana continued to bat aggressively in the company of Jemimah Rodrigues before Vastrakar struck once again, with Priya Punia taking a stunning diving catch to see the back of the Trailblazers captain for 34. Mandhana’s dismissal triggered a collapse with Vasstrakar in the company of Sophie Ecclestone and Alana King running through the middle order to all but seal the game.
The Trailblazers lost six wickets for just 10 runs as they slipped to a horrendous 73/7. Jemimah Rodrigues played a couple of fancy shots to keep the charge going, but an excellent catch from Harleen Deol in the deep ended her stay at the crease. Poonam Yadav, Renuka Singh and Rajeshwari Gayakwad ensured that the Trailblazers batted out their entire quota of overs, but couldn’t save their side from the biggest defeat in Women’s T20 Challenge history.

Earlier Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bat first after winning the toss and the Supernovas raced to the fastest 50 in the tournament history, with Deandra Dottin and Priya Punia taking the attack. Dottin’s stay was ended with a sharp direct hit from Sharmin Akter.
Punia soon followed her opening partner in the dressing room, but Harmanpreet Kaur and Harleen Deol kept the scoreboard ticking, with the latter scoring an enterprising 35 of just 19 balls. The Trailblazers’ spin attack then put the breaks on Kaur and Co, as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, eventually being bowled out for 163 off the final ball of their innings.
