Opting to bat first, West Indian opener Deandra Dottin got the Supernovas off to a flying start alongside Priya Punia. Dottin took on the Trailblazers bowlers by scoring flurry of boundaries in the powerplay. The opening partnership raced to 50 runs off just five overs. Dottin however departed in the last ball off the fifth over with a brilliant run-out catching her short of the crease. She scored 32 runs off 17 balls.
Harleen Deol soon entered the crease and she continued the run-flow by playing a brilliant knock. By the end of powerplay 58 runs were scored, which became the highest powerplay total in the history of the tournament.
Priya Punia departed in the eight over after a 20 ball 22. Deol and skipper Harmanpreet then capitalised on the good start and continued the aggresive style of play. Deol raced to 35 off 18 balls but was soon trapped lbw by Salma Khatun as he innings came to an end.
Despite wickets falling at the other end, Harmanpreet Kaur managed to hold one end as she saw the team surpass the previous best score of 146 in the tournament. Harmanpreet scored 37 off 29 balls and was run out in the 19th over of the innings. It soon brought a collapse as five wickets fell in the last two overs as Supernovas were all out after scoring 163.
