The Twitch TV show meta seems to be falling apart. After the recent suspension of Twitch star Pokimane for reacting to Avatar in livestream, the DMCA policy has taken down another popular streamer HasanAbi for broadcasting MasterChef live on stream. While streamers who were a fan of streaming these TV shows dismissed all warnings regarding any potential DMCA strikes, can now sense the repercussions that they may face due to their actions. Among all the TV shows, the cooking show MasterChef was their favourite. However, fans were surprised when Hasan Abi announced he had received a copyright takedown notice from Fox network for streaming MasterChef on his channel.
HasanAbi wasn’t much bothered even after Pokimane’s 48 hour ban from Twitch. Instead he took the opportunity to lash out on Youtuber Ludwig for drawing attention to DMCA strikes and Twitch meta. However, it didn’t take long for Hasan Piker to realise that this recent trend of TV meta would come crashing down.

Piker took to Twitter to reveal, “THE MASTERCHEF META IS OVER!”. He then attached a picture of the email he had received from Twitch about the DMCA claim. The notice states that “Dear HasanAbi, we’ve received a notification of claimed infringement with respect to your account.”

At the end of the letter, it was informed that Piker’s Twitch channel was being reported by Fox Network for watching MasterChef. “Copyrighted Work: MasterChef. Copyrighted Claimant: Fox Network.”
For streamer Mizkif all it took was Pokimane’s ban to become aware of the situation he was in and pull him out of the meta, while for HasanAbi a copyright claim made him accept the reality.

The delay by the companies to issue the copyright claim had eventually convinced all that this meta would go a long way. But with two of the biggest streamers targeted, it appears the end of Twitch’s ‘TV meta’ is near.
