Novak Djokovic is undefeated in the tournament so far as he won all his four matches in the year-end event to advance to the final.
The 35-year old defeated Taylor Fritz in two tie-breaks in the semifinal to advance to the championship match.
He began the tournament with straight set victories against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev.
He dropped a set for the first time in the week against Daniil Medvedev in the next game but clinched a 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 victory to make it to the semifinals.
Against Fritz, he was not at his dominating best but managed to win the two crucial tie-breakers to seal spot in the final.
He is now looking to level Roger Federer’s record of six titles in the season-ending event.

Casper Ruud meanwhile is the first Scandinavian to contest a ATP Finals championship match since Sweden’s Stefan Edberg in 1990.
This is the Norwegian’s second appearance in the ATP Finals and reaching the final in just his second attempt is in itself a great feat.
However, he is looking to go one step ahead and clinch the biggest victory of his career.
He had a great start to the campaign as he clinched a 7-6, 6-4 victory against Felix Auger Aliassime in the first group encounter.
He then sealed his spot in the semifinals as he defeated Taylor Fritz 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 in his second group encounter.
While he was aiming to seal his third successive win, he suffered a 7-5, 7-5 defeat against Rafael Nadal.
But against Andrey Rublev in the semifinal, he was at his absolute best as he clinched a straight set victory in 69 minutes to enter the final.
He will look to carry forwards the same form against Novak Djokovic in the final.

Ruud vs Djokovic Head-to-Head: Both the players have met thrice in the past with and Djokovic won on all the three occasions. They last met this year at the final of the Rome Masters and Djokovic clinched a 6-4, 6-3 win. Djokovic will yet again look to extend his win streak against Casper Ruud. Despite being the higher ranked player, Ruud will enter the contest as the underdog.

“He’s a player that doesn’t have many weaknesses at all. But he’s human. He’s had a great year… But he is human. He lost two weeks ago to Rune in the [Rolex Paris Masters] final.” said Ruud of Djokovic.
