With series on the line, India needed a strong start from their openers. On came Shubman Gill, who went on to put up a stunning performance as India aims to win the ongoing series against NewZealand. Prithvi Shaw who was drafted into the India squad after a long absence of 18 months was left warming the bench.

Shubman Gill slammed a humongous knock of 126 runs from 63 deliveries. He has now registered the highest score in the shortest format of the game by an Indian.

However, with Gill delivering and firing on all cylinders across all three formats of the game, it will be hard to replace him in the upcoming series. This essentially means that Prithvi Shaw who has been stunning in the domestic format of the game will have to sit out as his exile from the Playing XI continues.
