Amidst the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023), the main topic of discussion among all is whether it’s the last season of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni or not. According to renowned India opener Sunil Gavaskar, Dhoni will be perfect for Team India head coach position.
Gavaskar stated that MS Dhoni should be allowed a cooling-off period before taking the position of head coach of the Indian national team in the near future.
What Sunil Gavaskar said on MS Dhoni?
“MS Dhoni could take over the coaching role (in the Indian team) a little bit later. I think that is how it should be. I do believe that you need a little bit of cooling off period before you take any assignment with the team (after retiring as a player),” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.
“Be it the selection committee, the manager, or the coach, I think you need a 2 or 3-year cooling off period because you are making decisions about the player that you have been playing with. You can give anyone a three-year cooling-off period and then look at it,” Gavaskar added.
As the team’s mentor for the 2021 T20 World Cup, MS Dhoni was a part of Team India’s coaching staff.
MSD in IPL 2024?
MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, indicated a desire to play beyond this season. Although Dhoni’s final IPL season is anticipated to be in 2023, the seasoned custodian continues to surprise his fans. Dhoni stated on Wednesday that he hadn’t made up his mind as to whether this will be his final season with CSK.
