G2 has lately performed admirably in the Valorant Champions Tour EMEA Challengers. However, the team adjusted its roster and benched Oscar “Mixwell” Canellas Colocho in an effort to strengthen synergy. Wassim “keloqz” Cista recently replaced the former captain in the active squad following losses to Vitality and Alliance in the VCT Europe: Stage One closed qualification. Mixwell stated that he is now free to pursue other opportunities in the VALORANT franchise. Fans will undoubtedly be surprised by G2’s decision to bench its in-game leader. Mixwell’s future with G2 may have been decided by their losses in the closed qualifier, but the team had already failed last year when they failed to qualify for VCT Champions, the largest VALORANT competition to date. Since June 2020, when G2 entered the VALORANT competitive arena, the Spaniard has been a member of the organization. Mixwell was a key part of the international team’s early success, helping them win multiple tournaments in a row, including the WePlay Invitational in July 2020, the BLAST Twitch Invitational in September 2020, and First Strike Europe in December 2020.

G2, on the other hand, didn’t repeat their success in 2021, with the exception of a semifinal appearance in VCT Masters Berlin, and lost out on significant tournaments such as VCT Two Reykjavik and Champions. All of the players from the original lineup created in June 2020 are now gone, with Mixwell officially out of the picture. As a result of their disappointment, the team decided to withdraw from the Reykjavik Masters, which may surely be considered a missed opportunity. Following that defeat, G2 parted ways with a number of players, notably Ardis “Ardiis” Svarenieks, Patryk “Patittek” Fabrowski, and Aleksander “Zeek” Zygmunt, in June 2021.
