Potter’s reign at Chelsea has never looked solid enough. They have never looked quite convincing under him and now, the results are not going in their favor too. The Blues have lost 6 out of their last 9 games and are under immense pressure. It is reported that they have signed Joao Felix for a 6-month loan but it seems unlikely that he will be the savior they need.

They are also out of both domestic cup competitions after losing to Man City in both cup games. According to the Sun, Pochettino is more than willing to take up the role of Head Coach, should Potter be shown the exit door. The Argentine has been out of work since leaving PSG at the end of last season, after winning the Ligue 1 title.
Even though Potter has a 5-year contract, his tenure so far has been underwhelming. The pressure on him has increased post their 4-0 loss against Man City in the FA Cup. It is reported that Potter has been in constant contact with the Chelsea higher-ups and they see this as a long-term project. They also reiterate that a rebuild takes time and results can’t be expected overnight.

Even though Potter has the backing of Boehly, a string of bad results might make the US owner reconsider his stance. Potter has shown potential but if he is not able to turn things around, Pochettino is prowling around to snatch his seat as the Head Coach of Chelsea.
