The Major League Soccer has revealed that Lionel Messi’s shirt is the highest selling MLS jersey on their website this year. The Argentine moved to USA in July to sign for the side co-owned by David Beckham. Messi has enjoyed his start in Inter Miami, winning a Leagues Cup 2023 title.

The craze around Messi in the States has been unfathomable, with ticket prices for Inter Miami games hitting the roof. Many celebrities have turned up to watch the former Barcelona player in action too. It’s no surprise that Messi’s popularity in US is increasing day by day. Now MLS has confirmed by this.

The MLS announced the Argentine’s no. 10 jersey is the highest selling jersey in their online store from a period of January 1 through September 12, 2023.
It is worth noting that Messi arrived in the US only in July. His shirt became the top selling in just three months.
Other names
The 25-man list consists of some prominent names, with two of Messi’s teammates featuring in the list as well. Sergio Busquets and Josef Martinez’s jerseys were ranked 13th and 21st respectively.
St. Louis City forward João Klauss has claimed the second place in the list. The Brazilian striker has helped his team a great deal after signing for them in 2022. Klauss has scored eight goals in 16 appearances this season.
Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar is the crowd favourite and his inclusion in the top three is no surprise.
Austin FC’s Sebastián Driussi and Los Angeles FC’s Carlos Vela have found themselves in the top five.
The way the popularity of MLS is increasing day by day specially after the arrival of Lionel Messi, it will no surprise if Messi’s jersey sales make an even bigger mark in the US market in coming days.
