KKR vs DC LIVE: Kuldeep Yadav’s 4-wicket REDEMPTION outshines Shreyas Iyer’s REVENGE as stars shine against former teams
Shreyas Iyer slammed his maiden half-century of the season by scoring 54 off 33 balls against his former team. While he was looking to go big in the chase of 216, he was dimissed by Kuldeep Yadav with a brilliant stumping by Rishabh Pant. The KKR skipper became the first victim of Kuldeep Yadav who went on to take three more wickets to return with figures of 4/34.
He picked up three wickets in his final over by dismissing Pat Cummins, Sunil Narne and Umesh Yadav to seal the game for Delhi Capitals. With his four wicket haul, he also equalled Umesh Yadav in the purple cap leaderboard, having picked up 10 wickets in the season.
With his performance, he has exacted a perfect revenge against his former team, for whom he played only 14 games in the last three editions. Kuldeep Yadav, who has played 45 matches for KKR, was sidelined from the team after the emergence of Varun Chakravarthy. With Sunil Narine already in the playing XI, KKR were pushed to a position where they can choose either Kuldeep or Chakravarthy. The latter was given a go and Kuldeep, who was with the Indian team, was left warming the bench. He was released by the franchise ahead of this season.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer who ha led the Delhi franchise for two-and-half seasons suffered a shoulder injury and he underwent a surgery just ahead of IPL 2021. He missed the first-half of the IPL and Rishabh Pant was appointed as the skipper. However despite his return for the second-half of teh IPL, he was not given the captaincy and ahead of this year’s auction he was released from the franchise.
Shreyas Iyer was bought for 12.25 crores at the auction by KKR and they eventually made him the skipper. While, Kuldeep was purchased for 2 crores by Delhi Capitals.
