On Saturday, an unnamed ATK Mohun Bagan footballer tested positive in Goa, forcing the match against Odisha FC on the same day to be postponed. “Hero Indian Super League (ISL) has decided to postpone Match No. 53 between ATK Mohun Bagan and Odisha FC scheduled to be played today, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at PJN Stadium in Fatorda. The League will look to reschedule the fixture to a later date,” the league committee said in a statement.

“The decision has been taken in consultation with the League’s medical team after an ATK Mohun Bagan player tested positive for Covid-19. The League will work closely with the medical experts to monitor and ensure the safety of all the players and support staff in the squad and others involved,” it added.

However, it is currently not known how many players are currently in isolation as close contacts and if further matches will be postponed. On Thursday, FC Goa did not hit the pitch for practice after a Covid scare within their own bio-bubble. A couple of players were asked to self-isolate and the team didn’t turn up for practice. But under interim coach Derrick Pereira, the rest of the squad trained on Friday.
