Dhawan was roped in by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 8.25 crore (US$1.1 million approx). He was one of the major contributors for the franchise as he amassed 460 runs in 14 matches at an average of 38.33. The southpaw registered his best innings of an unbeaten 88 in IPL 2022 where he notched up three half-centuries in an otherwise dismal season for the franchise. His vast experience in the lucrative tournament and on the Indian pitches might come out handy for the franchise in the upcoming season.

How did Punjab Kings perform under Mayank Agarwal in IPL 2022? – Agarwal, one of the oldest serving players in the franchise, took over the new guard from his Karnataka teammate KL Rahul. However, the captaincy role didn’t suit the out-of-favour India batter as he only managed to score 196 runs in 13 matches at an average of 16.33.
Moreover, Punjab Kings finished at the sixth spot under his reigns which made the change inevitable. The franchise could only muster seven wins while they lost as many which kept them away from qualifying from the playoffs.
However, it still remains to be seen, whether or not Agarwal is retained by the franchise with the last date set at November 15.
