Will Jacks will have to wait to make his IPL debut after the English all-rounder was ruled out of IPL 2023. Signed for Rs 3.2 crore, Jacks was a doubt after sustaining a muscle injury during recent England vs Bangladesh series. ESPNCricinfo understands that following scans, it was considered best to pull out of the competition.
It is a major concern for Virat Kohli’s side, given he was supposed to act as cover for Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell is crucial to the balance of the RCB side, but he himself is returning after a long layoff. Maxwell has not played competitive cricket for over 5 months. He will feature in India vs Australia ODI series, where his fitness will be put to test.
As per the report, RCB are already on the hunt for a replacement. Among the options is Michael Bracewell, who went unsold at the IPL Auction. Bracewell starred during New Zealand’s tour of India in January with his power hitting. The Left hander was Kiwi’s leading run-getter in ODIs, scoring at a staggering 144.62. He hit 30 boundaries in 3 innings, almost single-handedly taking the visitors past the finish line in Hyderabad.
Bracewell had listed himself in the auction for Rs 1 crore, but had gone unsold. He is also likely to be available for the entire season with New Zealand Cricket making provisions for their IPL stars.
