Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the few positive for MI this season and the Indian stalwart played a pivotal role as the five-time champion clinched their first win of the season. Coming in to bat after Rohit Sharma was dismissed early, Surya went about his job holding the innings together.
Ishan Kishan was dismissed early but the Mumbai Indians star found support in young gun Tilak Varma as the duo staged a comeback. SKY was particularly impressive as found gaps with ease and got to his 3rd fifty this season, in what has been a productive campaign for the 32-year-old. Despite missing out on the first two games of the season, Suryakumar Yadav has been Mumbai Indians’ top scorers, only behind Tilak Varma. In seven games, SKY has amassed 290 runs at a stellar strike rate of 147 despite being moved around the batting order this season. Surya is sixth in the Orange Cap race, with his 3 fifties being the joint-most in the IPL this season.
