IPL 2022: Dale Steyn SRH bowling coach? – South Africa’s bowling superstar Dale Steyn might have bid goodbye to playing cricket but he is all set to return to IPL once again. This time, he will don a new avatar as the former Protean fast bowler is all set to join Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as their bowling coach for the upcoming IPL 2022. As per a Cricbuzz report, the announcement is expected by next week. Dale Steyn pulled out of IPL 2021 in favour of playing PSL 2021. But in August, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

The South African great has played 95 IPL matches for four IPL franchises, most recently for Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In those 95 games, he has scalped 97 wickets. He also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2013 and 2015.
However, it is his Test records that stand out. In 93 Test matches, he has scalped 439 wickets with an average of 22.95. In ODIs, he has taken 196 wickets and in T20Is, he has scalped 64 wickets in 47 T20Is.

Apart from Dale Steyn, SRH are also in talks with former India batsman Hemang Badani to rope him in as a batting consultant.
In recent times, Sunrisers Hyderabad had to let go head coach Trevor Bayliss while mentor VVS Laxman had to quit the post after taking up the National Cricket Academy head position. Tom Moody, who was director of cricket operations will be the head coach.
