In an exclusive interview with InsideSport, the 39-year-old has explained that he wants to don DC’s blue jersey as he has developed a great bond and understanding with the franchise and the player.

Notably, DC recently retained the likes of captain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje and Prithvi Shaw as team’s head coach promised that an effort would be made to get back the released players during the mega auction.

“It’s a great plan (On Ponting’s idea to retain maximum DC plaers). Best team Delhi Capitals – There is bonding and an understanding between us now and so Delhi Capitals will be my first choice,” Amit Mishra told InsideSport.IN.

Delhi Capitals reached the final of IPL 2020, and in the previous season managed to reach the qualifier round again where they lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who went on to grab their 4th title.

Mishra, who has played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India – was ruled of the IPL 2020 after injuring his finger while attempting a return catch off his bowling in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the 2021 edition, he played four matches and six wickets from them. He did not get to play a single game during the second leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE. The Delhi-born had contracted Covid-19 during the India leg.

Overall, the leg-spinner has played 154 matches and represented Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) apart from Delhi Capitals. With 166 scalps, Amit Mishra is third on the list highest wicket-takers in the IPL.
