After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Rishabh Pant’s men never allowed KKR batsmen to settle as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Both the dismissals that involved Rishabh Pant happened in the same over with Kuldeep Yadav being the bowler.
When KKR were 83/4, Kuldeep came on to bowl the 14th over of the innings. In the very first ball, Kuldeep bowled a widish delivery that took the bottom edge off Shreyas Iyer’s bat. Pant had to bend low but he took the catch with his right hand just inches above the ground. He made a long appeal to the umpire before it was taken to the third umpire. Replays confirmed that Pant had indeed collected the ball cleanly with his right hand and Shreyas departed after scoring 42 off 37 balls.
Two deliveries later, Andre Russel comes out of the crease looking to play a big shot but completely missed the ball. Pant this time, did not collect the ball cleanly however managed to divert the ball back into the stumps that caught Russel short of the crease. He walked back without scoring a single run. This was Kuldeep’s fourth wicket of the match as he rattled his former franchise yet again this season.
When both the teams met earlier this season, Kuldeep picked up a four-wicket haul that was instrumental in helping Delhi Capitals win the contest by 44 runs. Kuldeep Yadav now moved up to the second spot on the purple cap table with 17 wickets to his name.
