Venkatesh Iyer continues miserable run – After falling prey to Axar Patel on the third ball of the fifth over, Axar has now gone from a big hit to a big flop. In total he has scored just 132 runs in nine matches averaging 16.5 for the entire season. Venkatesh was a big hit at the back end of last season, helping KKR reach the final. But his latest failure has raised question marks on his involvement in the team.
Joins Ruturaj Gaikwad as a big failure – Venkatesh is not the only opener who is facing torrid time at the moment; Ruturaj Gaikwad is another big flop of the campaign. So far in the tournament, Ruturaj has amassed 138 runs in eight matches while he averages 19.71 for the season. The 2021 IPL Orange Cap winner has been struggling for form, although he did play a 73-run knock against Gujarat Titans (GT), but that remains his solitary best performance.
