Opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad and pace spearhead Deepak Chahar were already ruled out for the first phase of IPL 2022, and now, South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius has also joined the list, albeit not owing to an injury.

Problem 1 The 32-year-old cricketer has been named in South Africa’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. The last ODI will be played on March 23, and given that the IPL governing committee has made a three-day quarantine period compulsory before entering the bio-bubble, Pretorius is all set to miss the inaugural match against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26.
That, however, is not the end of CSK’s troubles. After the three ODI matches, South Africa will play two Test matches against the Tigers and this series will end on March 12. If he is picked for the Test series, will miss four matches.

As for CSK’s other corners, there is still no update on the availability of opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar. Gaikwad sustained a hand injury ahead of the first T20I against Sri Lanka, whereas Chahar injured his right quadriceps in the third T20I against West Indies
