He gave away just 13 runs in his quota of 4 overs and took the crucial wicket of Glenn Maxwell. The spinner was excellent with the ball and bowled one of the economical performances of IPL 2021. With his impressive bowling, he also justified his place in the T20 World Cup.
“Pretty good, that’s exactly what I was saying in the dug-out, he’s going to be a key factor when he plays for India. We need to see performances like these from all the youngsters so that the bench strength of Indian cricket stays strong. And, he’s someone who is going to play in the near future for India and it’s a great sign,” Virat Kohli said in a post-match chat.

With those three wickets, Varun Chakaravarthy jumped to the top 6 in IPL 2021 purple Cap leaderboard. He has now taken 10 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 7.25 rpo.
T20 World Cup: Varun Chakaravarthy was recently rewarded for his excellent bowling performance in IPL and recently concluded a series against Sri Lanka. He was chosen ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. He had taken 17 wickets in 13 matches during the last edition of IPL held in UAE. He will be expected to play a crucial role for India during the T20 World Cup. He will look to recreate the magic in the remaining matches for KKR and the upcoming T20 World Cup for India.
