IPL 2021 – 8 IPL Teams – 8 Cricket Legends – 1 IPL 2021 Trophy: With less than a month to go for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, franchises have started preparations to get their hands on the VIVO IPL trophy. While Mumbai Indians (MI) will eye their 6th IPL Title, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will look to win the elusive maiden IPL trophy. But to win an IPL season, one will also need help from the legends of the game. So, InsideSport.co brings you eight greats of cricket who are helping out the eight franchises win IPL 14.

IPL 2021: Stephen Fleming – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Head Coach

Fleming played for the CSK in the 2008 IPL after being signed for US$350,000. He played 10 matches and scored 196 runs at an average of 21.77 with the highest score of 45. He was appointed as coach of the Super Kings in 2009 and retired as a player from the team. He has four IPL titles under his belt — three with CSK and one with Rising Pune Supergiants.

IPL 2021: Mahela Jayawardene – Mumbai Indians (MI) Head Coach

Jayawardene led Mumbai Indians to their second IPL title in his debut season as coach. The former Sri Lankan since then won two more IPL trophies with the Mumbai-side, making them the only IPL side with four titles.

IPL 2021: Kumar Sangakkara – Rajasthan Royal Director of Cricket

Rajasthan, ever since their maiden title in the inaugural season, has struggled to win another IPL trophy. However, with the inclusion of one of the greatest batsmen of all times, Sangakkara, RR will hope to win their second IPL trophy.

IPL 2021: Ricky Ponting – Delhi Capitals Head Coach

Appointed as the head coach for Delhi Capitals in 2018, Ricky Ponting had promised that he will take Delhi to new heights in three years. And he did so. In 2020, he kept his words and led DC to their maiden IPL final.

Punjab has played just one IPL final so far. Former known as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Punjab Kings will enter the competition with new vigour and strength. And the man who would be leading them is one of India’s greatest cricketers, Anil Kumble.

IPL 2021: VVS Laxman – Sunrisers Hyderabad Mentor

In IPL 2013, he was appointed as a mentor for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Laxman has been one of the key members of SRH think tank. His approach for balance reflects in the team composition too. Sunrisers are probably the most balanced sides in IPL. SRH were the first to show the importance of retaining the core and making a playing XI around it. Thanks to this approach, SRH won its first IPL in 2016.

IPL 2021: Brendon McCullum – Kolkata Knight Riders Head Coach

Brendon McCullum was the first batsman to score a hundred and a 150+ in the Indian Premier League. The stats are enough to describe why he is one of the best in IPL history. KKR appointed him in 2019, and while the Kolkata-side have had a mixed season in 2020, they will be one of the favourites to bag the title this season.

Simon Katich – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Head Coach

Appointed in 2019, Katich has revamped RCB completely with the help of Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson and captain Virat Kohli. Royal Challengers finished in play-offs in IPL 2020. This time they will attempt to go oneup on their perforamance.
