India’s mixed team of Deepika Kumari and Pravin Jadhav on Saturday lost their quarter-final clash of the Archery Mixed Team event in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics here at the Yumenoshima Final Field. South Korea’s An San and Kim Je Deok defeated the Indian pair 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
India Tokyo Olympics Live: An San and Kim Je Deok displayed their A-game in the entire match, giving no respite to the Indian pair, and in the first two sets, the South Korean duo dominated. However, Deepika and Pravin staged a comeback in the third set, and they brought the scoreline to 4-2. In the fourth set, Deepika and Jadhav scored 33, but An San and Deok scored a total of 36, and as a result, they ended up winning the match.
Earlier on Saturday, the mixed team of Deepika Kumari and Pravin Jadhav had booked their place in the quarterfinals after defeating the Chinese Taipei duo of Lin Chia-En and Tang Chih-Chun in the pre-quarterfinals.

Pravin Jadhav looked all clear with his quick releases, it was Deepika Kumari’s composure that has helped India. She did not wilt under pressure, something that was seen in the past Olympics, she was as composed as she could get and shot the maximum as India came back from behind to win the match.

India was supposed to field the Husband-Wife duo of Atanu Das & Deepika Kumari in the Mixed Team but after the disappointing ranking round by Das – India now will be fielding Deepika & Jadhav pair on Saturday.
How does the MIXED TEAM Format work in the Olympics?
- Pravin Jadhav was seeded the highest in the men’s individual archery ranking round and as a result, he would be competing alongside Deepika Kumari.
- Pravin finished the round at the 31st position while Atanu finished at a disappointing 35th position.
- The mixed team is now placed at the ninth spot and it is this position, at which the pair of Deepika and Pravin will start the elimination rounds in the Tokyo Olympics.
- Pravin and Deepika’s collective score read 1319. They will take on Chinese Taipei in the 1/8 Eliminations round.
