Rohit Sharma at the toss said: “We have to play good cricket and I hope bowling first now, we can restrict them to a decent score and bat well. We have two changes. Axar Patel is back and he replaces Shahbaz Ahmed. Kuldeep Sen is not available for selection, so we have got Umran Malik in place of him.”

“Going back to the drawing board and understanding how we need to play on this conditions, just the basic talk about what we need to do with the bat and how to handle certain bowlers. Had good training session yesterday, and hopefully we can come out and replicate those learnings,” the Indian skipper added.

Later, BCCI in a statement said: “Kuldeep Sen complained of back stiffness following the first ODI against Bangladesh on Sunday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him and has advised him rest. He was not available for selection for the 2nd ODI.”

BCCI has already sent in Umran Malik as a replacement for Mohammad Shami in ODIs. He will join the practice on Tuesday. With him available, India will have a direct replacement for Shardul. However, India team management will have to take a regarding Axar Patel.

Axar Patel suffered a rib injury while practising on Saturday. He was not available for selection in 1st ODI. It is unlikely that he will make it for 2nd ODI in Dhaka on Wednesday. But if he is fully fit, he will replace Shahbaz Ahmed.

India Playing XI 2nd ODI: What to expect from 2nd ODI?

KL Rahul has already declared that he will keep wickets and will be India’s No 4 batter.
Hence, Ishan Kishan won’t make it. Shikhar Dhawan will open with Rohit Sharma.
Ishan will only come in if Dhawan gets an injury.
However, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will exchange places in middle-order depending on situations.
KL Rahul batted at No 5 on Sunday. But he could bat at No 4 on Wednesday.
However, with all top batters available, Rahul Tripathi will have to spend longer on the bench.
Axar Patel was unavailable for 1st ODI. He is carrying a rib injury.
Like Shardul, a call will be taken on his inclusion after practice on Tuesday.
Washington Sundar will keep his place after a decent showing.
In the pace bowling line-up, India do not have many options on the bench.
If Shardul is unfit, Umran Malik will take his place.
Kuldeep Sen despite leaking runs on his debut will keep his place.
