While he did not contribute with the bat, Hardik got 6 overs under his belt. Given his injury problems, the vice-captain bowling without any hiccups is a bonus. Axar Patel will occupy the all-rounder’s spot at No.7.
Yuzvendra Chahal had a decent outing on a rather flat pitch. The wily leg spinner is set to continue, with Kuldeep Yadav set to be on the sidelines again. He however faces competition from Washington Sundar, should Rohit Sharma opt to beef up his batting.
Mohammed Siraj was as impressive as ever dazzling in the powerplay. Senior pacer Mohammad Shami struggled initially but got his lines right as the game progressed. Umran Malik has embraced his role as a middle-overs enforcer, picking up three wickets in Guwahati.
