With tried and tested formula, India will aim to make the last jump for ICC WTC Finals. India have 6 matches left in the WTC cycle and India must win at least 5 of their last 6 games.

The two Tests against Bangladesh will be the best opportunity. While KL Rahul understands that, he does not want to try something new and lose momentum.

“You have to try to go back to your basics. We played a lot of Test matches and it’s only about reminding ourselves and each other what worked for us in the past and repeat that. Each time we played in different formats it was a challenge the mind space of each individual player is quite different. It is important to back the players and let them make their own decisions. It’s really important for us to enjoy our cricket and not really think too much,” KL Rahul said.

What India need to do to ensure WTC FINAL Qualification?

  • India are currently 4th on POINTS TABLE
  • They will have to win minumu 5 of 6 Tests – i.e 2 against Bangladesh & 4 vs Australia at home.
  • If they win all 6: Their win PERCENTAGE will rise to 68.06 – which will surely take them through to the FINALS
  • If they win 5-1: Their percentage will be 62.5, which still will ensure FINAL entry for India and exit for 2nd placed South Africa.
  • If they lose 2 of 6 tests: It will be unlikely that India will qualify for WTC Finals

India Squad 1st Test: KL Rahul (C), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara (VC), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat
