Iyer can be seen grinding hard in the nets. The right-handed batter faced a number of short balls in the nets and looked comfortable while hooking and pulling the ball. The right-hander batter is expected to get a place in the starting lineup against the Bangla Tigers.
Iyer has had a fair share of problems with short-balls
Despite performing exceedingly well in the 50-over format, Iyer has had a fair share of problems with the short balls. He was bamboozled by Ebadot Hossain by a bumper in the first ODI encounter. Shreyas Iyer had undergone a scheduled surgery to his left shoulder, which he partially dislocated when he landed awkwardly after putting in a dive in the field during an ODI series against England in March 2021. Since then, the 27-year-old has been a victim of the short ball on numerous occasions.

- Captain Rohit Sharma is out of the 1st Test. he is also doubtful for the 2nd test.
- Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami are also ruled out.
- Saurabh Kumar and Navdeep Saini come in as replacements.
- Jaydev Unadkat is added to the squad.
- Abhimanyu Easwaran is brought in as cover for Rohit.
