Axar Patel spun a web around the ZImbabwe batters in the middle overs as India completely dominated the hosts in the first ODI at Harare. The left-arm spinner first cleaned up captain Regis Chakabva with a peach to dent Zimbabwe’s rebuild after an early collapse.
Patel then followed up to clean up the tail with the wickets of Luke Jongwe and Victor Nyauchi to bowl out Zimbabwe for 189. Axar had the best figures on the day as India eventually sealed a comfortable victory.

Axar Patel had a fine outing in the India vs West Indies series as well prompting him to be considered as one of the spin options for India in limited overs cricket. Patel has worked on his batting and is a genuine all-round contender but was snubbed from the Asia Cup 2022 squad with Ravindra Jadeja being preferred.
