Shreyas Iyer, on Friday, June 22, became the third-fastest Indian batter to reach 1000 runs in ODIs. The right-hander is tied with former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who also accomplished the milestone in his 25th innings in the 50-over format.

Iyer came to bat after Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill stitched together a 119-run partnership for the opening wicket off 17.4 overs. Nicholas Pooran got rid of a dangerous-looking Gill, after which Iyer took charge.
