Coming in to bat after India were reeling at 58/4, Rishabh Pant took time to get going. Unlike the last game, where he was out playing a rash shot against Kagiso Rabada in the second innings for which the batsman faced heavy backlash, Pant was cautious and showed patience at the start of his innings. Once he was set, he started playing his shots.

He was involved in a 94-run stand with captain Kohli and even after India lost wickets at the other he continued his counter-attack to reach his fourth century in Test Cricket. His knock helped India take the lead past the 200-run mark.
Rishabh Pant also becomes the first Indian wicket-keeper to score Test centuries in England, Australia and South Africa and cricket fraternity took to Twitter to applaud the 24-year old’s brilliant innings.
