On India vs Pakistan clash:

We always look forward to India vs Pakistan clash as we don’t play each other anywhere else but these big tournaments. So, it’s always an exciting time & a great challenge for all of us to compete against a team like Pakistan.

There might be history of how many times we played & each team won but it doesn’t count for anything. It’ll always start from 0. Either will want to start really well.

KL Rahul on India’s aggressive approach:

It’s great to see the new approach of Indian team, started after the last world cup, following the words of captain by everyone, we are hoping to continue this.

On Virat Kohli’s Form:

We all want Virat Kohli to get back in form, we’re not worried about it. His mindset always remains the same, to win matches for India and he’s done that for many years. Virat Kohli is World class player. He doesn’t get affected by what people see from outside. The standard Virat Kohli has set, he is hungry and wants to win matches for the country.

We don’t really give much importance to comments. It doesn’t really affect a player, especially a world-class player like Virat will not be affected by what people are saying on the outside. He has had a little break & he is working on his game.

On Shaheen Afridi’s absence:

Shaheen Afridi is a world class bowler. It would’ve been a nice experience for us had he been playing, but unfortunately, he’s injured and ruled out.

India Playing XI vs Pakistan: 3 PUZZLES Rohit Sharma must solve

The top 5 look set with Rohit Sharma set to open with KL Rahul. Virat Kohli at No 3 while Suryakumar Yadav at No 4 and Rishabh Pant at No 5. Then on, it’s about fitting everyone in as per conditions demand.

  • Dinesh Kartik or Deepak Hooda?
  • Who will partner Bhuvneshwar Kumar? Arshdeep Singh or Avesh Khan?
  • Where will Ravindra Jadeja play?

Dinesh Kartik or Deepak Hooda: One is a designated finisher while the other one is an all-rounder who can be India’s 6th bowling option. Without Hooda, India will need all five bowlers to bowl full quota of four overs including Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya.

But it is position that will once again be a topic of debate. Hooda has done wonders batting in the top-order. Dinesh Karthik has also found success batting at No 7. But if Hooda is slotted in at No 6 with Hardik at 7 and Karthik dropped, it will not make sense to take the veteran player to Asia Cup.

Barring all the hullabaloo about Karthik’s form, he doesn’t offer India the balance. But since selectors have decided to trust Karthik, it is unlikely that he will be benched. Hence, Hooda is unlikely to make it to the Playing XI.

Who will partner Bhuvneshwar Kumar? – After England and West Indies tours, it is clear that Arshdeep Singh is ahead of Avesh Khan in the pecking order. Hence, it is likely that Arshdeep will partner Bhuvneshwar Kumar in Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel’s absence.

In his short T20I career, Arshdeep Singh has super impressed the selectors. In 6 matches, he has bagged 9 wickets with a brilliant economy rate of 6.33. His yorkers and variations have been super-effective in death overs. In fact, in the five matches where he bowled in the death overs, Arshdeep returned with 7 wickets with an economy of 4.73, the best of the lot.
