In the first innings, Bairstow went on to hit a magnificent 106 and then repeated the same in the second innings. This became his fourth century in the last 3 test matches. The British batter amassed 220 runs in both the innings of this test match. Bairstow became the only batter after Andrew Strauss hit two centuries in a test match.
Andrew Strauss achieved this rare feat against India in 2008. 14 years later, Jonny Bairstow replicated the same feat against the same opposition. While Strauss’s knocks came in a losing effort, Bairstow’s knock however secured a victory for his side.
