“If you are looking for only slim and trim guys, then you might as well go to a fashion show. Pick some models and then give them a bat and ball in their hand and then include them. You have cricketers in all shapes and sizes. Don’t go by the size, but go by the runs and the wickets,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today.

Sunil Gavaskar is the latest to lash out at BCCI Selection Committee for ignoring Sarfaraz Khan. Earlier, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad and Irfan Pathan showed support to Sarfaraz Khan.
Sarfaraz Khan was ignored for the upcoming high-profile series featuring India and Australia. The right-handed batsman silenced his doubters with a century in the first innings of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Delhi.
Gavaskar expressed his displeasure and said, “He is not staying off the field when he is scoring hundreds, he is back on the field again. All that tells you that the man is fit for cricket”.

Recently Venkatesh Prasad had also lashed out at the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee.
“ Not having him in the Test Team despite 3 blockbuster domestic seasons is not only unfair on Sarfaraz Khan, but it’s an abuse to domestic cricket, almost as if this platform doesn’t matter. And he is FIT to score those runs. As far as body weight goes, there are many with more kgs,” he said.
Despite scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz has been out of favour. While one of the reasons is his failure in India A, the other is his fitness. With BCCI mandating Yo-yo test and DEXA test for fitness, cricketers need to pass both to earn a call-up. Sarfaraz apparently hasn’t been managed to clear the mandated yo-yo test.

Sarfaraz Khan reveals the reason behind his motivation
Sarfaraz Kahn had recently credited his father for keeping him stay motivated despite being ignored for the first two India vs Australia Test Tests. While speaking to Times of India Sarfaraz said that he was emotional after being ignored for Australia series.
“When the team was announced and my name wasn’t there, I was sad the whole day, when we travelled from Guwahati to Delhi, I was feeling very lonely,” Sarfaraz said.
“I cried too. I called my dad to Delhi. He spoke to me, I practiced with him, and then felt better,” . With the team yet to be announced for the last two Test matches, the youngster will keep his fingers crossed of earning his maiden Team India callup.
