Shubman Gill could miss out on a return to Test cricket following an injury suffered in training. The Indian opener was pictured with the physio as he applied a heavy bandage to Gill’s palm. While he seemed in good spirits overall, the seriousness of the injury is unknown. A spilt webbing and a thumb dislocation saw Rohit ruled out and India would hope that this is not the same case.
India have already lost Rohit Sharma to injury, alongside the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. Gill was certain to start in Chattogram but his injury has left India in a lurch. KL Rahul & Rahul Dravid have the services of Abhimanyu Easwaran to call upon. The Bengal star led the India-A side to a 1-0 win against Bangladesh earlier this year. Moreover, he scored back-to-back centuries at the top of the order.
